Discover the Terraces

Why choose between
mountain and city views?
A Himalayan story

In the late 1980s, Nepal’s leading tourism pioneer Ang Tshering Sherpa arrived at Lakhuri. He was struck by how majestic it was to stare squarely at the great Himalayas from a spot so close to Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu. Standing atop this hill, above gracefully descending rice terraces, he discovered an incomparable view of both the Himalayas and Kathmandu.

Today, The Terraces invites guests to share the awe of this Himalayan story. As if a continuation of the rice terraces below, the hotel rises up from the slopes in the manner of a Himalayan monastery, or Dzong, its construction guided by divine inspiration.

Keeping nature at the heart of things

With an organic herb and produce garden on the property flanked by indigenous forests, The Terraces is a green oasis. We believe that communing with nature is at the heart of maintaining wellness. We also believe in doing things as sustainably as possible, to protect the environment which we depend on.

An hour’s drive from the city

The Terraces Resort and Spa is located 16 KM from Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport. This means that guests are less than an hour’s drive from the busy capital and a short direct flight away from most major cities in India, China, the rest of South Asia and South East Asia.
